Ramadan is a time for spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and deepening our connection with Allah. However, diving straight into fasting, extra prayers, and lifestyle adjustments can feel overwhelming if we’re not prepared. That’s why starting early with small, intentional steps can make the transition smoother. These 12 Ramadan Prep Challenges will help you train your body, declutter your life, and strengthen your faith—so when Ramadan begins, you can fully focus on worship and personal growth.
Challenge 1: Start Voluntary Fasting
Prepare your mind, body and soul by fasting on Mondays, Thursdays, and the White Days (13th, 14th, and 15th of the Islamic month) to ease your body into Ramadan. Not only is it Sunnah, but it’ll be easier to get in the spirit of Ramadan if you do this.
Challenge 2: Delay Breakfast
Train your body for fasting by delaying your first meal for 3–4 hours after waking up. This reduces hunger pangs in the morning and helps your body adjust.
Challenge 3: Digital Detox
Declutter your phone by deleting unnecessary apps, organizing your gallery, and unfollowing distractions on social media. Train your algorithm to show Iman-boosting content by engaging with beneficial posts and marking distracting content as “Not Interested.”
Challenge 4: Adjust Your Routine
Align your daily schedule with Ramadan:
- Sleep early (between 10-11pm) so you can wake up early
- Wake up 1-1.5 hours before Fajr for Tahajjud & quality time with Allah
- Stay awake after Fajr for a productive morning as there is Barakah in that time
- Take a midday nap for energy
- Increase your Adhkaar throughout the day
Challenge 5: Clean & Organize Your Space
Deep clean and declutter your home, kitchen, and room to minimize distractions. You can decorate your space to create a Ramadan-friendly atmosphere.
Challenge 6: Reduce Entertainment & Music
Gradually cut down on excessive entertainment and replace it with Islamic podcasts, lectures, and series to nourish your faith.
Challenge 7: Meal Prep in Advance
Plan easy, nutritious meals and prepare freezer-friendly dishes. This will save time and allow you to focus on worship during Ramadan.
Challenge 8: Complete Eid Shopping Early
Finish your Eid shopping before Ramadan or in the early days to avoid last-minute distractions. The last 10 nights are for worship, not mall trips!
Challenge 9: Prepare a Dua List
Write down your personal Duas and Keep them handy for daily supplications. Make sure to include Duas for every single aspect of your life so you don’t forget anything.
Challenge 10: Plan Your Last 10 Nights
Decide in advance how you will maximize worship in the last 10 nights. Set goals and plan ahead to make the most of the blessed 10 nights of Ramadan.
Challenge 11: Set Up a Charity Plan
Choose where you’ll donate this Ramadan. To encourage family participation, create a charity box at home where everyone can contribute daily.
Challenge 12: Gather Faith-Boosting Content
Create a collection of Islamic books, Podcasts, or Tafsir sessions in a separate folder to engage with throughout Ramadan. This will help maintain your spiritual focus.
